The Sabre bowling teams had a very successful weekend competing in the MHSAA Regional tournament in Gaylord this past weekend.
During the Friday team event our girls won the Regional Championship, the 2nd girls Regional bowling championship for TCCS. The Sabres finished with a total of 3,105, 120 pins in front of second place Rogers City. Our girls posted the two highest team games of the tournament with scores of 785 and 821. High individual games for the Sabres were bowled by Savanah Bluemel with 196 & 171, Brooke Smith with 186, Ella Wendel with 175 and Emily Bluck with a 164. The Sabres boys team finished the tournament in 6th place, missing a spot in the State finals by only 62 pins. A highlights for the Boys was a 222 Baker game, highest of the tournament. The boys were led by Hunter Haldaman’s games of 225-199-182 and Ethan Haldamans 222 and 181 games.
Sabre bowlers also performed great during Saturday’s individual tournament. Savanah Bluemel ended the day as the girls Regional Champion, including games of 204 and 181. TC Christian placed four bowlers within the top half of the Region with Lily VanBrocklin finishing 14th, Ella Wendel 17th, Brooke Smith 18th and Emily Bluck 26th. On the boys side, the Sabres placed three bowlers in the top half of the Region – Ethan Haldaman 12th (missing a spot in the State finals by only 5 pins) Hunter Haldaman 13th (missing by only 12) and Nathan Gentry 29th.
Next Friday the Sabre girl bowlers will be competing in the MHSAA State finals team championship at M-66 Bowl in Battle Creek. On Saturday Savanah Bluemel will be representing TC Christian in the Singles event.
